Limited Availability

Mixed media on reclaimed canvas, 30cm x 30cm/ 12” x 12”

The two pieces ‘Dandelion Dreams During Lent’ started with two things in mind; the colour violet representing Lent according to an article I read and the fact I wanted to create a set of two pieces that could sit side by side or be appreciated individually. At the time I was creating them, I was swept up in the Easter holiday vibes despite lockdown still holding everything back. Cornwall is a very different place during school holidays, it thrives off visitors and these visitors give the county its energy that takes it from season to season. During the different lockdowns Cornwall seemed very strange without that normality, everything was a bit lost and quiet and I missed that flux.

With this new normal in mind I started this and another painting at the same time with the same colours and layout. I decided to use stencils for a more intricate design. This design reminded me of stationary I had in a drawer from many years ago when I used to write to my best friend who sadly lost her battle with Leukaemia. So I guess this set transports me to times spent with her and memories of a holiday apartment in Carbis Bay, near St Ives.
